The Music Folder

Turandot

The Music Folder is a podcast by the Archivio Storico Ricordi exploring the intersections of music, memory, and art.

Born from a desire to reflect on sound sources, it brings together the voices of artists and musicians such as Alvin Curran, William Basinski, Jeff Mills, Wolfgang Voigt, Moritz von Oswald, Nicolás Jaar, Suzanne Ciani, Simon Reynolds, and Christina Kubisch, alongside musicologists, critics and curators including Veniero Rizzardi, Francesco Tenaglia, Claudia Attimonelli, Marco Mancuso, Guglielmo Bottin and Francesco Bergamo.

Rather than following the usual interview format centered on career milestones or new releases, The Music Folder opens up broader conversations on the meaning of sound in the creative process. Each guest has played a key role in shaping the silent revolutions of minimalism, electronic and avant-garde music, always with a gaze toward the future.

The series approaches the theme of sound sources not only as a reflection on the notion of sonic archives, but also through creative, philosophical and sometimes even existential lenses. This spirit of inquiry extends to collaborations with major institutions such as Biennale Musica, San Fedele Musica, and Berlin Atonal.
