On October 3, 2025, the Biblioteca Nazionale Braidense will host the conference Turanda: dai manoscritti alla scena, an event organized by the Conservatorio di Como in collaboration with the Archivio Storico Ricordi and the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera.
The initiative is part of the broader Turanda project, dedicated to rediscovering Antonio Bazzini’s opera, which—after a single run at Teatro alla Scala during the 1867 Carnival—will receive its first modern staging on October 26 at the Teatro Sociale di Como.
Curated by Maestro Marco Emilio Camera, the conference will explore the key stages of the critical and philological journey carried out so far. Speakers will include:
Vittorio Zago (Director of the Conservatorio di Como)
Marco Emilio Camera (Director of the Conservatorio di Como Library)
Antonio Moccia (Editor of the critical edition for Casa Ricordi)
Pierluigi Ledda and Carlo Lanfossi (Archivio Storico Ricordi)
Marco Mazzolini (General Director of Casa Ricordi)
Bruno dal Bon (Conductor of the new production)
Stefania Panighini (Director of the new production)
For the occasion, both the original stage libretto with the director’s notes from the Scala premiere and original documents from the Archivio Storico Ricordi concerning the life and work of Antonio Bazzini will be presented.
