Tosca 125

Archivio Storico Ricordi Celebrates Puccini’s Masterpiece

125 years after the world premiere of Tosca at Teatro Costanzi, the Ricordi Historical Archive is proud to be a partner in this initiative celebrating Giacomo Puccini’s genius and the history of Italian opera. The original set designs by Adolf Hohenstein, preserved in our Archive, were the foundation for the reconstruction of the staging of this production, faithfully bringing back to life the historic debut of January 14, 1900.

This celebration extends beyond the stage: the exhibition Tosca 125: Beyond the Stage, hosted at Teatro Costanzi, offers an immersive journey through sketches, photographs, costumes, and documents from our Archive and the Opera di Roma’s collections. Through seven thematic sections, visitors can explore the origins of the drama, the complexity of Puccini’s creative process, and the pivotal role of music publishing in shaping this timeless masterpiece.
